The African National Congress (ANC) Gauteng Provincial Task Team (PTT) Working Committee convened a strategic preparatory meeting this week ahead of the upcoming Gauteng Provincial Lekgotla, scheduled to take place from 3–4 May 2025.
The Lekgotla, a key governance and policy forum within the ANC’s internal planning framework, is convened with the primary objective of developing a comprehensive manifesto implementation plan for the province. This process is central to translating the ANC’s electoral commitments — its “contract with the people” — into concrete government programmes and measurable outcomes.
Held within the context of the ANC’s declared “Year of Renewal,” the Lekgotla underscores the party’s stated ambition to revitalise its role as an effective, people-centred movement in line with the enduring principles of the Freedom Charter, including democratic governance and equitable economic participation.

This planning session comes at a critical juncture for the province, as Gauteng grapples with challenges around service delivery, youth unemployment, infrastructure expansion, and economic inclusion. The manifesto implementation framework to be finalised at the Lekgotla is expected to offer a roadmap for policy execution across key sectors — ensuring alignment between provincial priorities, municipal actions, and national development goals.
As part of its renewal agenda, the ANC in Gauteng has reiterated its commitment to internal accountability, public consultation, and the acceleration of transformation initiatives that directly impact the daily lives of residents. The outcomes of the Lekgotla are anticipated to shape both legislative programming and executive oversight in the months ahead.
