The summit takes place under the African Union-aligned theme, “Educate and Skill Africa for the 21st Century”, and brings together key decision-makers to advance inclusive, tech-enabled, and skills-driven education systems across the continent.

Hon. Chiloane is attending the summit alongside the Deputy Minister of Basic Education and strategic provincial partners from Matthew Goniwe School of Leadership and Governance and Sci-Bono Discovery Centre, both of which play vital roles in Gauteng’s education and skills ecosystem.

“Honoured to represent Gauteng at the Innovation Africa 2025 Ministerial Summit for Education, ICT, and Skills — held under the AU-aligned theme Educate and Skill Africa for the 21st Century — in Ethiopia, alongside the Deputy Minister of Basic Education and our strategic partners from Matthew Goniwe and Sci-Bono.

This gathering is a crucial step toward building inclusive, resilient education systems and strengthening partnerships that equip Africa’s youth with future-fit skills.

Day 1 marked a powerful start — rich in ideas, united in purpose, and focused on building an empowered, future-ready Africa,” said Chiloane.

The summit’s opening day was characterised by high-level engagements, collaborative roundtables, and strategic dialogues on education reform, digital inclusion, teacher development, and private sector collaboration. The agenda reflects growing consensus among African leaders on the need to transform traditional learning systems and prepare young people for emerging global challenges.

Gauteng’s participation reinforces its commitment to driving innovation in education and investing in strategic partnerships to close the digital divide, particularly in underserved communities.

As the continent navigates the Fourth Industrial Revolution, gatherings like Innovation Africa serve as critical platforms to shape policy, align with Agenda 2063, and ensure Africa’s youth are equipped with the tools to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.
