Military Veterans Receive New Homes in Westonaria Borwa and Dan Tloome Projects

Gauteng MEC for Human Settlements, Tasneem Motara, together with local councillor Amelia Zama, officially handed over new homes to military veterans at the Westonaria Borwa and Dan Tloome Mega Projects.

The handover marks a significant milestone in the province’s housing programme, aimed at addressing backlogs and ensuring that vulnerable groups, including veterans, have access to safe and dignified housing. For many of the beneficiaries, the keys handed over today represent not only shelter but long-awaited recognition for their service.

“These homes reflect government’s commitment to restoring dignity and honouring the sacrifices made by our veterans,” MEC Motara said during the ceremony. She noted that the housing delivery forms part of a broader effort to create sustainable communities by integrating housing with access to schools, healthcare, and transport infrastructure.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude as they received their keys, highlighting the stability and security the homes bring after years of waiting. The projects are also expected to stimulate local economic development by creating jobs and encouraging small business growth in surrounding areas.

The Westonaria Borwa and Dan Tloome Mega Projects form part of the Gauteng Department of Human Settlements’ strategy to fast-track service delivery and meet the housing needs of diverse communities across the province.
