The construction of the new Rotara LSEN School in Carletonville is making steady progress, with the project now 45% complete. The facility is designed to serve learners with special educational needs and will include classrooms, dormitories, therapy spaces, and workshops once completed.
According to Jacob Mamabolo, the MEC for Public Transport and Roads Infrastructure, roofing works are currently underway despite minor delays linked to small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) involved in the project.

The initiative not only aims to provide quality infrastructure for learners but also plays a developmental role in the community. Local SMMEs are receiving practical training on-site in areas such as bricklaying and scaffolding. This approach is turning the construction project into both an educational and empowerment platform.
The visit by the MEC’s team underscored the provincial government’s commitment to inclusive education and skills development, contributing to the broader vision of #GrowingGautengTogether.
