Gauteng MEC Lebogang Maile met senior leaders from the Telkom Group to explore possible cooperation in technology and information services. Maile shared the update through his official page at LebogangMaile1.
The meeting brought together the Commercial, Enterprise, and Business Development teams from Telkom. Officials discussed opportunities that could strengthen digital capacity for both provincial departments and municipalities. The talks focused on how existing Telkom infrastructure can support government services, public safety systems, and access to broadband in communities.

Telkom remains one of the country’s major technology and information service providers. Its national data centers are registered as national key points and are part of the core infrastructure that supports secure communication for both the public and private sectors. These centers form the backbone of many digital platforms used for banking systems, identity verification, and enterprise data management.
The Gauteng Provincial Government is working to expand its digital readiness as part of its broader service improvement plan. Partnerships with companies that manage large-scale data facilities are seen as an important element in this work. Provincial officials said discussions with Telkom will continue as they identify areas that can strengthen service delivery and modernize the province’s ICT systems.
The meeting forms part of a wider program to build stable and reliable technology platforms that support economic development and everyday government operations across Gauteng.
