Arms Dealer and Policeman Intercepted During Operation at Marrianhill Toll Plaza, KZN

Law enforcement agencies have intercepted an arms dealer and a police officer transporting a carload of weapons and 800 rounds of ammunition during the #NenzaniLaEzweni operation at the Marrianhill Toll Plaza.

The operation, conducted by the Road Traffic Inspectorate in collaboration with Durban Metro Police and the South African Police Service, revealed that the two individuals were unable to provide valid documentation required under the Firearms Control Act. The authorities have since launched a formal investigation into the incident.

“The use of our road networks for illegal firearms trafficking poses a significant risk to public safety,” said officials. “The proliferation of weapons and ammunition remains a major factor in violent crimes and robberies.”

The vehicle involved has been impounded, as it was illegally fitted with security lights in contravention of the National Road Traffic Act. The Road Traffic Inspectorate continues to enforce restrictions on the use of blue lights across the province.

In a related development, three additional suspects were arrested for impersonating police officers. They were found in possession of fake police appointment cards, highlighting ongoing efforts to crack down on criminal activity and protect road users.

Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to keeping KwaZulu-Natal’s roads safe by targeting illegal firearms movements and ensuring compliance with traffic and security regulations.
